Our client is the UK’s leading provider of business process management and support service solutions with a turnover of £5 billion.

Following a period of continued growth, often through acquisition, our client had amassed an extensive, disparate and inefficient Corporate Real Estate portfolio of over 400 properties. As they looked to the future, there was a growing demand for cost reduction and rationalisation of spend across the business which had driven the organisation to think more strategically about its property requirements. During discussions with the Group Finance Director, Bailey Montagu was informed that the incumbent Group Property Director was considered to be too operationally focused to effect a transformation of the group property portfolio and to implement a property strategy appropriate for the future needs of the business. Consequently, our brief was to identify commercially oriented leaders with the ability to develop a comprehensive property strategy and ultimately deliver a portfolio of workplaces that complements the broader objectives of the business.

The successful candidate was identified by Bailey Montagu and had extensive experience in leading complex, multi-site Corporate Real Estate portfolios. They had worked at a strategic level in organisations where real estate is key to the optimisation of the business. An engaging and inspirational leader, they had a track-record of bringing stakeholders together under an aligned strategy and of delivering significant rationalisation, cost reduction and workplace programs.

When Bailey Montagu made the initial approach the candidate was not actively looking for another role. Despite this, the scale of the challenge and the mandate to drive change were compelling reasons to consider the opportunity. Bailey Montagu presented four candidates for interview, three of which were ultimately considered by the client to be outstanding. Bailey Montagu worked closely with both client and candidates though a robust interview process to secure a successful conclusion and transition.
