Interim HR Director
We were introduced to a client who are a global leader across the full range of services in the Commercial Real Estate sector. The UK & Ireland HRD would shortly be departing and a replacement had not been found. The decision was taken to find an Interim HRD, who could undertake a review of current HR provision, make recommendations for change and then implement the agreed changes. It would then be necessary to find an appropriate permanent replacement, who could run the re-shaped function.
The business had suffered from a fairly high level of turnover at a senior level and this needed to be stabilised. There was also potential to integrate the UK & I team, at least to some degree, with the EMEA structure.
Our Interim was someone well known to our business, and someone we had placed twice before. He quickly realised that the firm had been operating with an underskilled HR team and set about filling the “gaps”, whilst also coaching and remotivating the staff in place. He implemented a job evaluation structure, recruitment processes, training, salary and bonus reviews and selected and installed a new HR system.
The assignment was very successful, the Interim was twice extended beyond the originally agreed term, and was in place for eleven months. Having a strong professional services background enabled our candidate to achieve all of the objectives set, and the outcome was a professional handover to the permanent replacement he had helped to select.
