Our client is a Fortune500 global EPC business, offering significant project and programme management expertise to their clients in Energy, Power, Civil Infrastructure, Manufacturing and Government & Defence market spaces. They employ more than 35,000 globally and have a turnover of US$15bn.

As part of their continued growth strategy, our client was embarking on a process of de-centralising global leadership roles to locations outside of the US, and ensuring each region was represented at global corporate leadership level. As part of this strategy, they required three senior hires at SVP and VP level within Operations, to be based in London.

Bailey Montagu was asked to source an individual with extensive international construction and multi-billion dollar project experience, as well as a broad working knowledge of the oil and gas, refinery and petrochemical industries, with an onshore bias. This was the most senior construction position globally and therefore required an individual who would be able to influence and lead the business unit, develop execution strategies for entry into new markets and build relationships with both external and internal stakeholders in order to achieve business goals.

The successful hire had been recommended to us on a number of occasions during the process. Our investigations, through referencing this candidate with respected and known industry sources, proved that he was a highly respected member of the global EPC community. His reputation was also known to our client as this individual had acquired significant experience in leading and managing world renowned mega projects. He was responsible for design, cost, project management and site construction activities globally and had been highly successful in delivering projects from the office constructability planning phase, through to construction, final handover and commissioning.

Despite failing in previous attempts to acquire this individual, our client was able to secure this key hire following a targeted campaign led by Bailey Montagu. We worked in close collaboration with our client and the candidate to ensure a successful outcome, which included navigating an international relocation and negotiating an appropriate remuneration structure considering significant variances in package construct between our client and his former employer.
